Section 10 - Measuring (select objects)
• the angle(s) between the following:
• Betelgeuse and Rigel
• Castor and Pollux
• The three stars in the Summer Triangle
I made the first two measurments on February 1, 2019 at the Edmund G. Kline dark sky observation site of the Denver Astronomical Society. I used the cross staff.
OBJECTS | CROSS STAFF | CALCULATED ANGLE | STELLARIUM |
SCALE / READING | OF SEPARATION | PREDICTION | |
Betelgeuse / Rigel | E / 51.4 cm | 19.00o | 18.65o |
Castor / Pollux | D / 48.4 cm | 4.72o | 4.52o |
The Summer Triangle measurements are going to have to wait until after the snow melts.
